What is the P31 AMG Development Package?
It is a $6k Factory Option that delivers all kinds of goodies. Most important are engines internals upgrades which come straight out of the SLS Gullwing: lightweight forged pistons, lightweight connecting rods, revised crankshaft and revised ECU. The P31 equipped C63s increase engine out put by 30hp to 481 hp. Torque at 443 pound-feet. Top speed limiter increase to 174 mph. AMG compound two-piece brake rotors fitted with red calipers and upgraded pads. Slightly lowered suspension and a carbon fiber trunk spoiler. Inside, you got an Alcantara flat-bottomed steering wheel.
The P31 Development Package is the last hurrah for the M156 motor. This is last of the normal aspirated all motor V8 AMGs. The 6.2 liter power plants offers instant throttle response. Its pulls hard all the way to redline. Incredible sounds, it makes all the right noises. Put that motor in to a tight chassis car, with this size and weight. Add direct, communicative steering and firm suspension tuning...
Realistically speaking, They do not make cars like this anymore. Everything nowadays is "small displacement" and "turbo charged" or Electric ....This a small sedan with a true big block V8.
